As Bitcoin(BTC) is back into a bull market, coin traders are urged to see an "alt-season" coming.
Historically, altcoins have risen as bitcoin price increased. However, If you're expecting to see an alt-season as 2017, you are going to be disappointed.
Ben Brown from CCN stated that there wouldn't be an alt-season in this hype cycle like 2017. He said, "altcoins like Ripple(XRP), EOS, BitcoinSV(BSV) and many other coins in top 20 will drastically underperform bitcoin in this bull run, and eventually, hundreds of altcoins will disappear.
Here are three reasons why there won't be an "alt-season".
1. It's time for Bitcoin, not Blockchain.
During the last hype cycle, significant figures in the tech and bank industries always kept their distances from bitcoin and used to say "Blockchain, not bitcoin." This led to tons of venture capital(VC) money flowed into blockchain projects and altcoins. Investors were busy for digging "better," and "faster" blockchains, which led to Ripple, EOS, Tron, Stellar and other major altcoins get so much hype.
However, This time, things are different. For example, the way people talk about bitcoin outside the blockchain industry has changed for the better. The narrative has switched to "bitcoin, not Blockchain." CCN reported that banks, institutions, and tech companies are now contributing to the bitcoin ecosystem. Also, there is a significant sign that the upcoming bull run will be rooted in institutional money, which means that people now invest in bitcoin for "safe play." One of the most prominent external players, Jack Dorsey from CashApp is also focusing on bitcoin, not altcoin.
2. The accelerators for "alt-season" are gone.
Yes, there was a time when the stage was correctly set for parabolic altcoin rising. Ethereum(ETH) emerged to help launch hundreds of blockchain projects, ICOs(Initial Coin Offerings) exploded, and money poured into altcoin market.
However, This time, ICOs are dead. After 2017, venture capitals are much more selective, and regulators are watching much closer. Also, it's much stricter advertising condition. The equality of the blockchain projects is improving. This means everything that catalyzed the alt season in 2016-2017 is gone.
3. Bitcoin will give traders more thrills than altcoins. Unlike the last alt-season, traders have access to better and more secure leveraged trading. Traders will tap into the established liquidity of leveraged bitcoin trading rather than chasing huge returns from the wild altcoin market. Even though Alt-season is hard to come, there will be some altcoins outperforming bitcoin in the bull run. CCN also reported that early indications show that traders are putting money into large utility projects like Binance Coin and Chainlink.
