According for forbes, due to the announcement made by Bakkt completing its first round of funding of $182.5 million from 12 partners and investors like Bakkt believe in the future of digital assets, has influenced many cryptocurrency investors who underwent through the so-called crypto-winter. Forbes also maintains that Bakkt bitcoin platform is planning to offer bitcoin futures trading from the first quarter of this year and open bitcoin and cryptocurrencies up to a wider retail market.

Bakkt declared on its official blog that the partners and investors in its first round include Boston Consulting Group, CMT Digital, Eagle Seven, Galaxy Digital, Goldfinch Partners, Alan Howard, Horizons Ventures, Intercontinental Exchange, Microsoft’s venture capital arm, M12, Pantera Capital, PayU, the fintech arm of Naspers, and Protocol Ventures. Bakkt considers the year 2018 as the most dynamic year for crypto in its brief ten-year history and it could be identified comparing the rising investment in distributed ledger technology and digital assets including the blockchain network metrics such as daily bitcoin transaction value and active addresses. However, Bakkt concludes that these milestones tend to be overshadowed by the narrower focus on bitcoin’s price, which has been seen by some, as a proxy for the potential of the technology.
